Stuff.

There are boocoos (as my momaw would say) of things swirling through my head, and rather than write a book, I'm going to do the minimalist thing and make a list. Hooray for laziness!

1. I've gotten back into drawing and painting and such. It's a pretty good stress reliever, plus it helps cover up holes on the walls in my room. Bonus! I've also tried to teach myself some new songs on piano, mostly Adele songs because, I mean, once you go Adele, you never go back.

2. I get a new phone in October, which is incredible news for those of you who have seen my phone. It has a will of it's own, calling and texting people in other states who I've never spoken to. Or better, texting people I know to inform them that they "probably have cancer." Oh, and calling the cops while I'm at work. Thanks for that, LG.

3. It's UNBELIEVABLY hot. The sun has taken some issue with Tennessee and is now trying to destroy it by drying out the ground in hopes the whole state will just spontaneously combust. Unfortunately, it's so humid here that the air replenishes the earth's water supply as quickly as it's evaporating. If only we were so lucky to spontaneously combust...

4. College classes are starting again in a couple weeks. That's not as thrilling as it sounds, and it didn't sound very thrilling to begin with. I loathe being confined to that campus all day, walking around in the beams of death falling from the sun or, in winter, having to ice skate to class. I managed to squeeze all the credit hours I needed into two days this semester with the occasional Monday lab. That's tolerable, right? Actually, "sufferable" is a better word.

5. Chick-fil-A is getting on my nerves. I know I should be thankful I have a job in these hard times, unemployment is skyrocketing, the apocalypse is nigh, etc. etc. It's kind of depressing when you make 1.2 billion chicken sandwiches in an hour and you look up and realize they've all been sold and you need more. Or better, when you get a complaint from a customer that the cores of her tomato slices "were not properly removed." Really? Bite me.

6. My friend, Maddy B, dropped off the face of the earth for a few months and has emerged a professional photographer! You want to click here and check out her stuff. You also want to subscribe, so you can get album after album of awe-inspiring photographed goodness right to your email. Do it.

Welp, that's all I got. If I left anything out, I'll add it later. Probably not actually.

Just go with it.

I've lost the will to write recently, so I'm trying to force myself to do so. This is, more or less, just an update of the stuff going in my life. I realize 90% of the people who find their way to this page don't care, but they'll get over it. Also, to that 10% left over? You guys are some seriously awesome sauce.

It's not for lack of trying that I've been absent for quite some time now. I'm gradually pulling away from things that could be considered my "comfort zone" like my attachment to my laptop (and Facebook). I can't really say it's been fun, but it has yielded several good things.

I recently turned 19. I guess, that's sort of an accomplishment. I realize birthdays are very important to some people though, and it's not nearly as egocentric of a celebration as I make it sound. I just don't like to place emphasis on my birthday, because that implies that I'm worthy of recognition or that my birthday is a sign of the day the world got the incredible gift of David or something. An accurate birthday card for me is something that says, "Congratulations! You've managed to evade death for another year!"

During my absence, I've done some heavy thinking. I've allowed hinderances to consume me, then I've prayed like a madman until I could raise up and overcome them. And, through God, I have overcome them. It's not over, because those things will undoubtedly come back, and the cycle will have to begin again and again. Rinse and repeat. I know some people would probably criticize my methods, but it's how I've learned to deal with the crap life so willingly dishes out.

I've tried to use "Yes!" and even a few reluctant answers like "Sure!" more than my preferred response of "Heck no!" lately. Not because I want to book my entire life out to my friends and family and the community and the rest of the world, but I really want to experience something. I want to be a part of something bigger than myself. Yes, it's very cliche. But I mean it.

God's got my life in His hands, my future determined, and my heart where He is. I realize that. I realize that God alone should be that grand adventure to fill the void in me, to fulfill my purpose, but I've never been a patient person. I want something awesome and incredible to happen now, so I've allowed every opportunity that doesn't compromise my stance as a Christian to fully present itself. Go-with-the-flow, ride-the-wave, and all that jazz. Waiting on people is hard, waiting on God is practically impossible, but I'm looking forward through every new door with anticipation.

How's Life? (October 2009 Edition)

Remember that whole thirty seconds I wasn't consumed with projects, essays, and other assorted crap?

Good times.

I'm uber busy once again, so here's my next episode of the ongoing drama that is my life...

1) I am DONE with Physical Therapy! Can I get a 'whoot-whoot'?

2) Per the request of my Literature Teacher, I have constructed my very own Inferno. This is, of course, based off the first book of Dante Allegheri's famous Divine Comedy. Despite the fact that the project is about Hell, it was actually pretty interesting. And my project...

...is HOT. (pun intended)

3) Only 213 days stand between me and Walt Disney World. (this is another appropriate place for a 'whoot-whoot')

4) It's FREEZING. Just in case you didn't notice.

5) I've been introduced to the terror known only as "the Heck". The economy teacher named Heck, loud as Heck, and from Heck...

...mortals beware.

*Heck is, in fact, a real person. Read about him in my best friend's blog here.

How's Life? (September 2009 Edition.)

It's been rather busy lately, and scheduling time to blog really wasn't one of my top priorities. However, I have a little free time, and I intend to get everyone back up to speed.

Here's my week in a nutshell:

1) I've started physical therapy on my ankle which I injured during my family's deck building exploit. It's nothing intense, but there is a rather annoying electrode machine they use. It emits electric bursts that make my leg flip around spastically.

My mom finds it very comical. Me? Not so much.

2) Following suit with the personal injuries, I fractured my finger playing football...this was probably not a brilliant choice on my part, as I was playing with a twisted ankle.

Writing papers for my AP Literature and Composition class has never been more "challenging". I'm fairly certain someone recovering from a drug-induced coma would have better hand-writing than I currently possess.

3) My best friend since 5th grade and I have begun the planning process for our senior trip to none other than the glorious Walt Disney World Resort! For those of you who don't know me, or my best friend, Disney is basically our home away from home. I'm so unbelievably stoked about this trip that no earthly amount of exclamation points could ever express my excitement. It will be the "pièce de résistance" of our pre-college lives, and I can literally NOT stop thinking about it.

4) I've lost my train of thought, and can't recall what my fourth update was going to be...

...did I mention Disney World?
